Why everyone on TikTok is raving about 'cookie milk'

A festive TikTok trend is sweeping supermarkets faster than expected

If there’s one thing TikTok never fails to do, it’s turning a humble grocery-store find into the next must-try obsession.

Every few weeks, the app collectively decides that something as ordinary as a condiment, a snack or even a carton of milk deserves its moment in the spotlight. Once the videos start rolling in, there’s no stopping the avalanche of stitched reactions, supermarket hauls and breathless taste-tests.

This winter, creators have swapped autumn’s pumpkin-spiced everything for a sweet, surprisingly nostalgic alternative, and people are dashing into supermarkets like they’re hunting for treasure.

Before anyone knew quite what was happening, feeds were full of people pouring a pale, festive-looking drink over ice, swirling it around and taking that first suspenseful sip.

One TikTok creator, @bygraceelizabeth, did exactly that before blurting out: “Oh my God! It’s really good! It’s like vanilla milk!”

She even insisted that tracking it down was ‘so worth it’, leaving viewers desperate to know where on earth they could find it. And just like that, the latest seasonal craze had landed.

Only after all that hype did the truth settle in: TikTok has crowned cookie-flavoured milk as its drink of the season. What people are calling 'cookie milk' is a sweet, dessert-leaning dairy drink that tastes uncannily like a liquid sugar cookie.

As pointed out by Parade, it first exploded thanks to a seasonal release from Stew Leonard’s, a US grocery chain known for its nostalgic glass bottles and limited-time offerings. The brand’s Christmas Cookie Milk sells out year after year, and not just because of the packaging; fans say it tastes like creamy vanilla with a gentle sugar-cookie finish, the kind that instantly reminds you of baking biscuits in a warm kitchen.

It hits that perfect intersection of comfort and convenience. The flavour taps straight into the classic cookies-and-milk moment many people grew up with, but in a form you can drink, steam for a latte or pour into anything from iced coffee to hot chocolate.

TikTok creators like @cdavis7x have called those combos ‘literally… perfection’ and the videos racking so many views haven’t hurt the craze either.

Of course, not everyone lives near a Stew Leonard’s, so the dupes have become just as popular. Target’s Favourite Day Sugar Cookie Flavoured 1% Milk has become a go-to alternative, offering that same vanilla-cookie sweetness at an easy price point.

Walmart shoppers, meanwhile, swear by DairyPure Santa’s Milk, an ultra-pasteurised whole milk with a richer texture that’s ideal for cocoa or chilled drinks.
