Time waits for no man, nor does it wait for Madonna. For fans of the perennially-youthful pop megastar, the news that she’s turned 67 might come as a bit of a shock. Where does the time go?

To celebrate her 67th birthday, Madonna travelled to Siena, Italy with her family to watch the famous Palio horse race on 16 August 2025.

There are two Palio horse races each year, landing on 2 June and 16 August, and features 10 bareback riders tearing through the streets of Siena upon valiant steeds and straddled by heaving throngs of onlookers.

Madonna naturally wasn’t in amongst the crowds, with the pop star watching from the comfort of a lofty balcony with a solid view of the course. She was joined by boyfriend Akeem Morris, 28, and her daughters Mercy, 19, and Lourdes, 28.

Posting to Instagram, the Queen of Pop captioned a reel of the occasion with: “My Dream for many years has been to watch the Palio horse race in Siena that takes place on my birthday, August 16, since 1482!!”

She continued: “There are no words to describe the excitement, the suspense, and the Pageantry!! A truly sacred ritual to witness thousands of people hushed to a silence before the race begins! The race itself is impossible to describe. Grazie Mille!”

The message concluded: “Dreams do come true.”

As far as dreams coming true are concerned, Madonna’s had a few.

Along with more clips of her family outings around the stunning Italian countryside was an image of her 67th birthday cake: a huge Labubu adorned with “Happy birthday Madudu.”

For the scatologically-minded, the ‘dudu’ suffix was probably the wrong choice. That said, ‘Madonnunu’ would have its own unfortunate connotations.

It seems even the ‘Like a Virgin’ singer isn’t immune to the viral sensation that is the Labubu. For the uninitiated, they’re a Korea-spawned must-have cuddly toy that looks like a cross between a goblin and a rabbit.

There was no end of birthday tributes paid to the megastar.

“Happy birthday Queen,” said fellow popstar Katy Perry, while former Canadian president Justin Trudeau offered: “MY QUEEN.”
