Kate Winslet has spoken out about weight loss drugs, calling them 'frightening'.
In recent years, the number of people using weight loss medication has soared.
According to Chemist4u, around 1.5 million UK adults have used weight loss injections, with 89 percent of people believing their quality of life improved afterwards.
In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Winslet gave her opinion on the drugs, explaining that she finds them concerning.

“It is devastating,” Winslet said. “If a person’s self-esteem is so bound up in how they look, it’s frightening.
“And it’s puzzling because I have moments when I think it’s better, when I look at actresses at events dressed how they want, whichever shape. But then so many people are on weight-loss drugs. It’s so varied. Some are making choices to be themselves, others do everything they can to not be themselves.”

Winslet also mentioned that she was concerned over what people were 'putting in their bodies', adding: “And do they know what they are putting in [their bodies]? The disregard for one’s health is terrifying. It bothers me now more than ever. It is f*****g chaos out there."
Winslet explained that she wished more people were accepting of ageing naturally, explaining that social media is partly to blame.
“My favorite thing is when your hands get old,” she explained.
“That’s life, in your hands. Some of the most beautiful women I know are over 70, and what upsets me is that young women have no concept of what being beautiful actually is.
“What idea of perfection are people aspiring to?”

Winslet isn't the only celebrity to have spoken out about weight loss drugs, with other famous faces explaining they had resisted taking the jabs.
Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall explained in August that she had 'a daily battle with [herself] not to go on Ozempic'.
"I have a daily battle with myself not to go on Ozempic," she told The Guardian. "I don't judge people that do, but because I have a history of eating disorders, I don't know where taking something like that would end for me.
"Historically, if I've ever felt that something is out of my control, then restricting food has been a means of controlling my life in a very toxic way.
"Now I'm in my 30s and the healthiest I've ever been, but every time I post a picture, there are comments saying, 'She must be pregnant.' The sad thing is that it's usually women.
"But people are used to seeing me in a group environment five or 10 years ago, when I was stick-thin because I was in my early 20s with an eating disorder."

Despite this, other celebs have reported positive experiences with the drugs.
For example, Serena Williams used a GLP-1 medication to help with her weight loss.
“A misconception is that (a GLP-1 is) a shortcut,” she told TODAY.com.
“As an athlete and as someone that has done everything, I just couldn’t get my weight to where I needed to be at a healthy place — and believe me, I don’t take shortcuts.”
