Jeremy Clarkson hints at future of Clarkson’s Farm following ‘catastrophic year’ at Diddly Squat

Jeremy Clarkson has given a closed-lip update on the future of his award-winning Amazon Prime Video series whilst revealing how ‘catastrophic’ this year has been for the Diddly Squat farm.

The 66-year-old, who revealed his ‘aggressive’ cancer diagnosis in series five of Clarkson’s Farm, has previously revealed that filming for season six of the beloved farming reality show was underway.

One episode will possibly feature former British Prime Minister David Cameron, who was spotted drinking at The Farmer’s Dog Pub in Oxfordshire during an organised harvest festival celebration.

In a new interview with the Radio Times, Clarkson has said he experienced an ‘enormously challenging year’ at Diddly Squat, and that weather has been a major factor.

“When it's sunny, the pub does really well, but the farm does really badly,” he complained.

“And when it rains, the farm does really well, and so I can never be completley happy.”

He continued, claiming that he will always been negative, regardless of what happens with the weather.

"Whatever happens with the weather, I'm going to say: 'Oh, it's disastrous at the pub' or 'Oh, it's disastrous at the farm'.”

The father-of-three and former Top Gear star admitted the season has been ‘catastrophic’ for himself and other farmers, admitting he only grew three ounces of hen food.

“You know, just an absolute waste of time.”

Clarkson, whose Diddly Squat Farm Shop recently partnered with Ocado, also used the opportunity to discuss the future of Clarkson’s Farm.

Whilst admitting series six was ‘nearly done’, he remained coy about a seventh season of the Prime Video show.

"Nearly done six, and then who knows,” the ex-Grand Tour favourite stated.

Clarkson’s Farm series six features ‘ashamed’ scenes

Clarkson’s Farm—renewed for a sixth series in January—apparently features Clarkson’s ‘biggest farming mistake to date’.

Speaking to George Lamb at the Farmer’s Dog in September, the British broadcaster explained that prior to hosting a ‘huge farm exhibition’ he decided to ‘drill the barley in the field that they’d all have to drive by’.

“Every single farmer in the country would drive past it, and I did the drilling, and I didn’t level the drill. On a couple of occasions, I forgot to turn the fan on and apparently didn’t drive in a straight line either,” he said, as per The Oxford Mail.

“You’ll see this in season six, but Kaleb did a speech when he’s almost in tears saying, ‘I’m not from a farming background, lots of farmers don’t think that I’m a proper farmer. You’ve completely messed this up, they’re all going to think that I can’t farm,’ and it’s one of the most heartfelt, tragic things you’ve ever seen.”

Clarkson added he ‘felt so ashamed, so genuinely ashamed’ and that he’d had to drink his own Hawkstone beer to feel better.

“But I think that was probably my worst mistake, genuinely,” he added.

Clarkson health update at the NTAs

Clarkson gave fans an update on his health earlier this month whilst receiving a National TV Award.

Upon picking up the inaugural Reality Docuseries prize, the icon said: “I had a heart thing and a bit of cancer, but we live in a time when doctors can fix things very easily.

“It was annoying rather than emotional - I missed a lot of the harvest, which I love.”
