Elon Musk’s 'psycho' method for eating McDonald’s chips has had people talking

The world’s richest man certainly has his own way of doing things.

Elon Musk has been a dominant force in global news in recent months, with his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the second Donald Trump administration having overseen sweeping and dramatic cuts across US government spending.

While it seems as though his brief tenure at President Trump’s side may be coming to an end, the bromance between the Tesla CEO and the President rocketed in the months leading up to the 2024 US election.

Musk, who is worth $315.7 billion according to Forbes’ Rich List, was swiftly appointed to “dismantle Government bureaucracy” and to “slash excess regulations” by Trump despite the billionaire’s recent overhaul of Twitter, now X, leading to an 80% reduction in the social media platform’s value.

"I am pleased to announce that the Great Elon Musk, working in conjunction with American Patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency ('DOGE')," Trump said at the time.

Prior to the inauguration, it seems that Musk and Trump spent plenty of time together, and shared a McDonald’s alongside Robert F. Kennedy Jr, and Donald Trump Jr.

A photo of the meal proved to some that Musk has “psycho” qualities: he dolloped his ketchup straight on his chips while they were still in their trademark red cup.

It didn’t quite prove as shocking as Ed Miliband’s famous bacon sandwich debacle, but then Musk doesn’t often seem to suffer the consequences of his faux pas like the rest of us.

Naturally, the correct way to chow down on Maccies chips is to dip them in sauce rather than slather sauce on top of them, and many social media commenters were quick to condemn the sight.

"Ketchup straight in the box from Musk,” began one. “Not even a little bit to dip on the side. Just straight in grabbing sauce drenched chips. Psycho."

"Elon, that’s not how you put ketchup on French fries, wtf is wrong with you lol," said another.

A third said: "This photo has revealed that Elon Musk is one of those psychopaths who put the ketchup on the fry pile instead of dipping them."

"The only problem I have with this is the fact that @elonmusk puts his ketchup inside the carton on the fries," echoed another.

Questions over whether the meals were warm, how recently they’d left the McDonald’s kitchen they’d come from, and whether the meals had already dried up on the private flight will likely go unanswered.
