A woman has died in hospital following an alleged attack by her manager at a 7-Eleven in California.
Jessica McLaughlin, 24, was left on life support by the alleged attack on 24 June 2025.
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the event as a homicide and are seeking McLaughlin’s alleged attacker who remains at large.
McLaughlin’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for funeral costs.

Her family has alleged that the victim went to work as normal on 24 June, with police saying the attack began as a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical one.
Police responded to reports of battery at around 2pm that day, and found McLaughlin unconscious at the scene.
Per a witness cited by McLaughlin’s family who spoke with police, it’s alleged that it was McLaughlin’s manager who attacked her.
“She held her down, sat on top of her, and didn’t let her breathe,” said Sean McLaughlin on the GoFundMe page. “While some coworkers tried to help and stop it, they were attacked too. When she finally got free, she collapsed. She wasn’t breathing.
“Her coworkers gave her CPR and called for help. Meanwhile, the manager ran to the back room to try and delete the security footage — and then fled the scene on her bike.
“Doctors and detectives later confirmed what we already knew in our hearts — Jessica didn’t do anything wrong. She was the victim, and this attack should have never happened.”
He continued: “She has been kept alive on machines for the past couple of days. For all of these days, her mom Jasmine, her dad Clancey, our brother Anthony, step dad Albert, faithful boyfriend Adrian, sister Linda and I — along with so many friends and family — stayed by her side, hoping, praying for some kind of miracle.
“But the damage from the lack of oxygen was too much. Her brain had stopped functioning. After getting second opinions and doing everything we could, we have to make the impossible decision to let her go.
“Now we’re trying to give her the goodbye she deserves. We want to give her a beautiful service — something that honors who she was and how deeply she was loved.”

According to Clancey McLaughlin, who spoke with KTLA, his daughter’s brain had been starved of oxygen for over 10 minutes.
The LAPD said that CPR couldn’t revive McLaughlin at the scene, and she went to hospital in a critical condition.
7-Eleven issued a statement which reads: “Our hearts are with those impacted during this difficult time.”
