National Taco Day is as good an excuse as any to stuff our faces with tacos, right? I mean, if you can't try and beat your own personal record on that day of the year, when can you?

This year Taco Bell is pulling out all the fast-food stops for National Taco Day, offering fans a chance to snag tacos, merch, and gift cards in what the brand is calling its 'biggest Taco Tuesday drop of the year'.

With exclusive merchandise, limited gift cards, and $1 tacos that highlight one of its most flavourful menu additions, Taco Bell is making sure this National Taco Day is more than just a food holiday, it’s a full-day event designed for taco lovers nationwide across the US.

The celebration is taking place on Tuesday 7 October, and features multiple hourly opportunities to score deals with future diners and taco fans being given the heads up a week before.

As part of the huge Taco promotion, Taco Bell’s $1 Cantina Chicken Soft Taco will be available at four designated times throughout the day. Beginning at 11am PST, and continuing at 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm, Taco Bell Rewards members can claim the special offer of snagging the dish for just $1 through the brand’s app.

Yet fans will need to be quick, as each drop is limited to just 25,000 tacos nationwide, and only one $1 taco can be redeemed per person during each round.

The featured Cantina Chicken Soft Taco first debuted in 2024 as part of Taco Bell’s Cantina Chicken menu and has become a huge hit and a menu staple. It includes slow-roasted chicken seasoned with Mexican spices, topped with avocado ranch sauce, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, shredded purple cabbage, and crisp iceberg lettuce, all wrapped in a soft tortilla. Each order also comes with a packet of avocado verde salsa, a zesty blend of tomatillos, green chili peppers, and avocado that pairs perfectly with the taco.

Beyond tacos, Taco Bell is sprinkling in some extra surprises throughout the day.

At 9am, 500 lucky fans will score a free National Taco Day t-shirt, available exclusively through the app, and then later in the evening, at 7pm., Taco Bell will give 100 winners the ultimate Taco Tuesday perk of a year’s worth of tacos, delivered in the form of a $160 Taco Bell gift card.

This year’s celebration also carries a special twist. Thanks to a partnership between Taco Bell and the National Day Calendar last year, National Taco Day will always fall on a Tuesday moving forward. That means every future 7 October will coincide with Taco Tuesday, making it a date to mark in the calendar every year.
