The new Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel was going to be popular enough, but McDonald’s has taken the chance to add to the fun with a new line of Happy Meal toys.
This time, the fast food chain has linked up with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, bringing the Mushroom Kingdom into participating restaurants across the US for a limited run aimed at collectors as much as kids.
There is an expected film hook, a digital element, and the kind of merch angle McDonald’s knows people will start trying to complete. Fans are being nudged towards the box itself, with a QR code promising a ‘fun digital adventure featuring Mario’s latest journey and a few new faces from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie universe’, as McDonald’s said on its corporate US Menu Spotter website — as noted by People.

Of course, the toys are the biggest draw of all, with McDonald’s confirming the Happy Meal comes with one of 12 collectible toys, each built around a different character on a posable clip. Between this and the KPop Demon Hunters ‘adult Happy Meal’ this might be a hard choice if you’re a fan of both franchises.
The line-up includes Birdo, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Bowser Jr. from 2023’s Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Luigi in a Frog Suit, Luma, Mario, Mario with Fire Flower, Princess Peach, Rosalina, Toad, and Yoshi.
Being a clip means you can easily take these toys with you on the go, as well, with McDonald’s adding: “Clip Mario to your backpack, pin Princess Peach to your purse, or let Yoshi dangle from your keyring – now's the perfect time to grab this season's must-have accessory.”

The promotion launched on 26 March at participating locations in the United States and is only available for a limited time, which will do nothing to calm the usual scramble from people who want the full set before it disappears.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, out on 1 April, brings back Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad.
New additions include Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., Donald Glover as Yoshi, Issa Rae as the Honey Queen, Luis Guzmán as Wart, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Brie Larson as Princess Rosalina. The film’s X account also teased Star Fox protagonist Fox McCloud joining the film ahead of its 1 April cinema release.
