It’s no secret that the cost of eating out has been creeping up, with many Brits thinking twice before grabbing their favourite fast food fix. Value menus, once a reliable option for a cheap bite, have started to look less appealing as prices inch higher.
Whether you’re a student looking to save pennies or just someone trying to stretch the weekly budget, affordable meals have become harder to find.
McDonald’s Saver Menu still offers a handful of items under £3, and KFC has its Cult Classic Savers menu where mini portions start from £2.19. Popeyes recently jumped in too with its Savin’ Menu, starting at £1.99. But when you want something a little more substantial than a mini wrap or a single burger, it can feel like you need to splash out more than you’d like.

That’s why a new deal from one of the country’s fastest-growing fast food chains is getting attention. German Doner Kebab (GDK), known for its unique twist on the classic kebab, has just launched a brand new value line-up. Called the Fiver Menu (‘Fiv£r’), it replaces their old Value 2.0 range and gives customers the chance to tuck into a proper meal for £5 a pop.
There are five dishes currently on offer. The GDK Don Burger packs doner meat into a soft brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, dill pickle and burger sauce. For those after something more handheld, the Fiver Munch Wrap comes loaded with doner meat, onion, tomato, crispy fries and GDK’s signature garlic sauce.
Cheese fans might prefer the Fiver Grilled Cheese, made with waffle bread, chicken or beef doner, melted cheese sauce and gooey Gouda, toasted until crisp. Rounding things off are two GDK x Doritos Loaded Kebags, where bags of Cool Original or Chilli Heatwave Doritos are opened up and piled high with doner meat, cheese sauce, tomato, onion and GDK’s three signature sauces — a kebab-style twist on nachos.
And it doesn’t stop there. GDK has confirmed that more fan-favourites will be added to the Fiver Menu in the coming months. Anyone signed up with Student Beans can also get a further 15% discount, making the deal even cheaper.

Speaking about the launch, Chris Waters, GDK’s chief marketing officer, said: “We know value matters more than ever, but we also know our customers don’t want to compromise on flavour. This is about giving people everyday access to GDK for less.
“The new Fiver menu is us responding to customer feedback, not only on affordable options, but lighter portions too. Stay tuned – it’s just the beginning as we’ll be adding more fan-favourites to the menu very soon.”
GDK first landed in the UK in 2015 and has since grown rapidly, with more than 150 branches now open across high streets, shopping centres and travel hubs. With full-sized dishes priced at £5, the chain is clearly setting itself up to take on McDonald’s and KFC, whose regular burgers now often come in at well over that price point.
For anyone on the hunt for a filling fast food meal without breaking the bank, this new menu might just hit the spot.
