So simple yet so rare.

When it comes to the biggest fast food chains, urban legends around ‘secret menus’ are nothing new.

Generally speaking, there is no secret menu, but you can often get special orders by making particular customisations.

Starbucks recently formalised the secret menu trends it has swirling on TikTok with a new section on its app dedicated to ordering viral custom drinks.

For McDonald’s, a lot of online chatter focuses on the options available in other countries. McDonald’s has specialised menus across practically all of its operational territories, with differering menus and varying recipes depending on where you’ve found the golden arches.

Now it seems that fans have caught wind of a menu item that’s familiar to fans in countries including Canada, Italy, and Luxembourg, but remain a secret elsewhere: the McShaker Fries.

To get hold of some McShaker Fries, all you would need is a packet of McDonald’s seasoning that’s not available in the US. There are a variety of flavours, but they’re essentially just salt packets.

Simply pour your fries into a bag, pour the seasoning in with them, shake them up, and there you have it: McShaker Fries!

Having visited a McDonald’s in Poland, Parade writer Lizzy Buczak tried it out for herself.

“Everything in my order was delightful, but the latest McShaker Fries took the experience to a whole new level,” she wrote.

“As much as I love the classic McDonald’s fries, I was genuinely surprised by how much better they were with a burst of extra flavor—easily ten times more crave-worthy. I tried two of the three seasoning options: Paprika and Sour Cream & Onion (śmietanki z cebulką), and both were excellent.

“The third flavor, Ramen, will have to wait for next time, since I was already full by then, but I have no doubt it’s just as tasty.”

She continued: “With your order, you get a baggy and a packet of seasoning to pour in with your fries. Then just shake, shake, shake it all up to evenly coat each potato piece with flavour.

“It’s actually a lot of fun, and while I expected to prefer the Paprika (since that’s usually my go-to when it comes to chips), the Sour Cream & Onion ended up being the clear winner, leaving my taste buds very pleased.”

It’s a mystery as to why this little treat isn’t yet available worldwide, but perhaps the McShaker Fries’ growing virality will sort that out for us.

With a bit of luck we could all be shake, shake, shake, shaking our fries in the near future.
