While McDonald’s staples look likely to last until the end of time, plenty of old favourites and have come and gone over the decades.
From the not-so-humble Chicken Legend to the Angus Burger, plenty of deliciousness has graced Maccies’ menus only to disappear into the sunset.
That said, plenty of fan favourites make eventual returns. The Steakhouse Stack, long-missed by the beef-eating faithful, is back in action, and US customers are about to get Snack Wraps for the first time in almost 10 years.

In short, it’s never quite goodbye so much as see you (maybe) later.
With old favourites coming back into the fold, many McDonald’s fans are salivating over the potential for forgotten treasures to make a comeback. One in particular has actually had a brief return in the US, and fans are keen to see it make a permanent comeback.
That menu item is the Chicken Big Mac. Back in October 2024, McDonald’s US announced a limited run of the poultry spin on the titan that is the Big Mac, and it’s left a lasting impression.
“With the introduction of the Chicken Big Mac, we’re excited to pay homage to one of our most iconic menu items, the Big Mac, and introduce it to a whole new generation of fans,” said Tariq Hassan, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s USA, in a press release.

“By tapping into some of our fans’ biggest passions from dupe culture to live-streaming, we’re able to serve up more than just a sandwich. There truly is something for everyone to enjoy in this campaign and we’re bringing experiences that will surprise and delight them, all before the Chicken Big Mac hits restaurants.”
The Chicken Big Mac is essentially what you’d expect: all the trappings of a regular Big Mac, but with a tempura-battered chicken patty instead of a beef one.
Over on Reddit, fans who’d caught a taste for this rare spice melange are on their knees at the Maccies altar, praying for more to descend from the heavens.
“Literally begging McDonald’s to return the chicken Big Mac,” said on Redditor. “I had about 10 in the time they were out and I don’t even have McDonald’s frequently. I don’t know what overcame me to eat so much, but it was the greatest chicken sandwich. I neeeed it back.”

They most certainly aren’t alone.
“Yeah no lie I don’t know what was in that thing but it was addicting,” said another who found that once they’d popped they couldn’t stop. “I was getting it multiple times a week.”
And it wouldn’t be Reddit without a quick flex from someone more fortunate: “You can get it in Germany right now lol.”
