Costco shoppers snooping for a warehouse steal may be pleased to know that bosses have reduced a plethora of products’ prices in recent weeks.
Last month, statistics released by the Labour Department suggested that the cost of groceries in the United States had shot up in the space of a year by a jaw-dropping 2.9 percent.
David Ortega, a food economist and professor at Michigan State University, told USA Today that the increases could be credited to the pressure that the conflict in Iran was putting on both the food supply and the cold-chain.
“Refrigerated trucking runs on diesel, and diesel is up sharply,” he said.

“Categories that depend most on that cold chain, like fresh produce, dairy and prepared salads, saw some of the sharpest monthly increases. Prepared salads, for example, jumped about 3 percent in a single month.”
In an attempt to ease the burden, Costco bosses have lowered the price of some of its Kirkland Signature products.

On the decision, CEO Ron Vachris said on an earnings call: “Against the backdrop of ongoing macro uncertainty, our focus is providing quality goods and services at the lowest possible price continues to resonate strongly with our members.”
The report, made during a company call on 28 May, explained that four Kirkland Signature brand items had been reduced by at $1 to $10.
Now, anyone heading into their local warehouse can pick up Kirkland Signature Crispy Wings for $14.99, rather than $16.99.
Kirkland Signature Milk Chocolate Almonds have also been reduced, and are now priced at $18.99, rather than $19.99.

Kirkland Signature Golf Balls (previously priced at $32.99) and King Size Sheets (formelry $89.99) have experienced a price reduction, too.
The pair can be picked up for $29.99 and $79.99, respectively.
According to Fox 5 San Diego, Costco CFO Gary Millerchip reported on the call that various produce, eggs, and dairy items would also experience a price deflation.
He did not explicitly note what products would experience price cuts, the publication stated.
On the call, Millerchip claimed that Costco’s ‘goal’ was to be the ‘first to lower prices where we see opportunities to do so.”
He added that the Kirkland Signature brand was continuing to ‘drive growth in food and sundries’ for the company.
The news comes a year after Costco voluntarily lowered the price of several Kirkland Signature items, including macadamia nuts, laundry packs and aluminium foil, as per the New York Post.
According to Millerchip, the price of Kirkland Signature Boneless Chicken tTnders also decreased by 13 percent last year, resulting in a 21 percent increase in pounds sold.

A slew of new products have hit Costco shelves in the last quarter, including Kirkland Signature-branded energy drinks, ultra-filtered milk, sea salt popcorn, and oven-roasted chicken dog food.
Another new favourite is the company’s version of a popular £D frozen dessert sold in H-Mart.
The sweet treat, also known as trompe l'oeil desserts, is based on traditional French patisserie techniques and features a creamy frozen filling coated in white chocolate.

The viral fruit-shaped desserts are being sold for $11.49 at Costco, with three peach-flavoured and a trio of mango-flavoured delights featuring in every box.
Fans have been going wild for the Asian-French fusion, with one writing via social media: “These are the prettiest desserts, and I was not expecting them to be so soft and so, so creamy.”
“Omggg!!!! I’ve been seeing these everywhere im so glad they’re at Costco!,” replied someone else.
A third said: “Def have to get my hands on this!! I hope we get these in FL!”
