Food company is looking for a 'Chief Eats Officer' to tour China and Japan in dream role

The opportunity of a lifetime.

Every now and then we’ll hear about a job posting that sounds too good to be true. From being a caretaker on a private island to being paid to be a wild man in a Chinese national park, there are options out there for the lucky few seeking to exit the rat race for something a bit more adventurous.

Of course, there’s some stiff competition whenever those novel vacancies crop up, and that might be particularly true right now.

With low-skilled vacancies in the UK reportedly receiving an average of over 500 applications and a decline in the number of vacancies being posted, it isn’t a great time to be looking for a new job.

The competition is likely to be particularly stiff for this particular job posting, which not only lands amidst a stiff recruitment environment but is sure to capture the imaginations of thousands of potential applicants.

Amoy, the name behind your favourite soy sauce, is offering a lucky applicant the chance to become its ‘Chief Eats Officer’. They’ll be given a £1,000 pre-paid bank card for food/drink as they venture across Japan and China in search of delicious grub.

The role runs for 18 nights, with flights and hotels included in expenses.

"We’re looking for someone with a big appetite and a passion to follow their tastebuds around the world,” said Gabriel Tresmontant, Head of Amoy UK.

“We hope their journey will inspire the nation to grow more curious and confident in the kitchen with Asian flavours”.

Of course, openness to world cuisines might be alien to your uncle from deepest Norfolk, but the vast majority of Brits embrace food from other others. Research indicates that 92% of us eat foods originating off these shores at home, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty more room to expand the national palate.

The Chief Eats Officer must be a dab hand at content creation, comfortable on camera, and able to produce food-focused video content that inspires. Amoy sees the role as that of a digital explorer, with their adventures to be shared regularly on social media platforms.

If you want to be in a with a chance of landing this dream job, here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Produce and post a 30-120 second video on either Instagram or TikTok featuring you using an Amoy product creatively in the kitchen. Eligible products include: Amoy Light Soy Sauce, Amoy Dark Soy Sauce, Amoy Premium Soy Sauce, and Amoy Straight to Wok Noodles.
  2. Tag @amoy_uk.
  3. Follow @amoy_uk.

It’s as simple as that, with entries closing on 12 August 2025.

Best of luck to the intrepid applicants!
