Couples are using aphrodisiac chocolates to 'spice up' date night, and many have been left satisfied with the results.

An average-looking box of chocolates has racked up five-star reviews on Amazon, as people gobble them up in an effort to boost their sex lives.

"They are not just about taste, they pack a very big secret," one review reads. "Under the silky, smooth chocolate hearts is a magical combination to make you ready for anything.

"I was unsure that this would do as it says. But something about the experience of sitting with my partner eating these luxury treats almost cast a spell over us."

Another happy customer shared, "Tried with partner not expecting much... was I wrong. They start to work 20 mins after eating, [we were] both itching to rip off each other's clothes.

"Put it this way, I’ve ordered a couple more boxes of them."

A third said: "10/10. Me and my partner loved these. We didn't have massive expectations, especially my partner, who thought these were going to be a gimmick. We were wrong, I wouldn't say they make you feel hornier. However, they made the whole experience feel more intense, which in turn made us both hornier."

So, what do aphrodisiac chocolates taste like, and where can you get hold of them? Find out more below.

Where to buy aphrodisiac chocolates in the UK now

If you're keen to see what all the fuss is about, you can currently purchase Lovehoney's Playmate aphrodisiac chocolates on Amazon here.

At the time of writing, they are currently reduced from £29.99 to £24.99. You can also purchase a box directly from the website here.

According to the product description, the treats are crafted by an artisan chocolatier with three 'mouthwatering' flavours on offer: spiced coffee caramel, raspberry and champagne, and Sicilian blood orange.

The chocolates can allegedly be used to 'increase sexual desire', but you mustn't exceed the recommended dose of half a chocolate per day - no matter how tempted.

Do aphrodisiac chocolates really work?

Lovehoney says the chocolates are made with botanicals including ashwagandha, maca and arjuna.

Each of these ingredients can allegedly be used to support desire and promote relaxation.

There are multiple studies online to suggest there is truth behind it. For instance, research suggests ashwaganda can improve arousal and overall sexual function in both men and women, by reducing cortisol (stress hormone).

Whether or not they will work for you can’t be confirmed until you give them a try, but you’re sure to have fun regardless - even if it’s placebo effect.
