There’s a ‘correct’ way to open a bag of Haribo but not everyone agrees

There’s supposedly a ‘correct’ way to do tonnes of things, even if the ‘incorrect’ way is perfectly viable and unproblematic.

For example, people love to say that you should open bananas from the bottom, but each to their own.

Now, as it turns out, it’s been revealed that we’ve all been opening bags of Haribo incorrectly. Frankly, the ‘correct’ way looks like a quick way to make a mess, but we digress.

It’s safe to assume that most of us are opening them like packets of crisps – in other words, by pulling the glue apart on the top seam so it can serve as a flimsy sweets bucket.

But au contraire, fair-minded citizen, but you are a fool who’s been inadvertently ruining Haribo for yourself. Ostensibly, anyway.

According to TikToker Anna, posting from Germany, the ‘correct’ way is to use the vertical tab that runs down the centre of the bag’s back.

It opens a neat seam now the back, and you can then loop the opened tab around the bag to close it back up. To be fair, it does seem like a neat, if unnecessary, option.

"Don’t tell me you knew that?!" Anna said in the video caption. The video itself sees her make the revelation via social media, dash to a shop, grab a couple of bags, then head home to try it out. She then makes it very clear that her mind has been blown.

"I lived in the dark for 42 years," said one Haribo fan.

"This hack is amazing," said another.

"This has changed my life," said another who probably opens bananas from the bottom.

Plenty of other users pointed out the obvious: "I don’t understand, why would I not eat the whole bag in one sitting."

"Doesn't matter...I never need to reseal them,” said another.

"Honestly... who reseals a bag of Haribo? They're scoffed in one sitting,” admitted another.

It’s true; how much use is that tab getting when it comes to resealing these bags?

“Did Haribo know?” asked one user who reckons this ‘correct’ method isn’t necessarily intended by the manufacturer.

“Girl it's not THAT shocking,” pointed out another.

With 2.9 million likes and counting, it’s fair to say Anna’s shock was shared by plenty of other people who want to add a little more hassle to their Haribo.
