Restaurant server reveals how he punishes 'poor behaviour' from customers

Dylan says dealing out retribution to rude customers is one of the main perks of the job.

A Texan waiter has shared how he ‘punishes’ badly-behaved restaurant patrons.

Dylan Carlino, posting on TikTok as @dylanpcarlino, said exacting revenge is his ‘favourite part’ of the job.

The restaurant server explained that diners will regularly ignore the establishment’s policies, such as by seating themselves at a dirty table rather than wait to be seated by a member of staff.

As bad customer behaviour goes, that sounds pretty mild. Nevertheless, it’s all the excuse Dylan needs to exact some retribution.

He explained that he will let guests sit at those dirty tables for around 20 minutes, waiting for them to ask why no one had come over.

Dylan will then claim ignorance, saying he assumed they had already dined as their table was decked with dirty dishes.

"'Nobody's helped you? There's dirty plates, what are you talking about? You guys already ate?'" Dylan says.

When they inform them they haven’t eaten, he’ll say: "'Wait, did you guys come in and seat yourself and not talk to anybody? That's not how restaurants work. Get up, we have to go talk to the hostess, there's a 30-minute wait."

Along with sitting down before a waiter has given them the green light, Dylan takes issue with people bringing their own drinks to the restaurant. That one, to be fair, is out of order.

For those, he’ll pretend various menu items are no longer available.

"'Oh you've been craving pancakes all day? We just ran out of batter'," he said.

"'Breakfast ended six minutes ago. No, we can't make more. You want me to convince them that they should be making breakfast after we ended it?

"'Probably shouldn't have brought your own coffees in then.'"

Annoying as these customers may be, there’s no denying that this deliberate bitterness is hardly helping matters, nor is it going to reflect well on the restaurant itself.

Dylan, committed to wanton misanthropy, couldn’t care less.

"When I behave like this, I assume I'm not getting a tip at all," he explained when someone pointed out that his behaviour amounts to cutting his nose to spite his face.

"Keep your six bucks I don't need it. You've given me something much more valuable than money. You've given me an opportunity for revenge."

The path of the Dark Side, that is.

Other serving staff have nevertheless praised Dylan for his restaurant vigilantism.

"As a waitress I agree with everything you say here,” said one comment.

"As a frustrated bartender whose face speaks before I can formulate words, THISSSS,” said another.

A third chimed: "I usually can tell when I’m not going to get tipped anyways so I act like the service you’re paying for."

Sounds like these guys should all get in touch with Karen’s Diner to see if they’ve got any openings.
