Nando’s fans are reminiscing about the good times—they’re nostalgic for the budget-friendly prices of 2020, with some claiming the beloved restaurant chain should be ‘ashamed’ of how much it's charging customers these days.
Hospitality businesses are seemingly caving in every day right now, what with recent losses including Leon, Beefeater, and Coughlans Bakery, which may be reopening under a new name.
BrewDog shut down a large number of bars following the Tilray acquisition; Franco Manca announced plans to shutter restaurants; and Patty&Bun is currently operating from one of its final brick-and-mortar sites.
Whilst companies shut up shop for good, others are taking preventative methods to guarantee their continued success.

One of the ways businesses are keeping afloat in 2026 is to increase their prices—and that’s exactly what Nando’s has been doing.

If you’re a regular chicken and chips eater, you may not have noticed that dish prices have been slowly but surely hiking since the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.
However, one social media user is on hand to remind you of how cheap the company used to be.
“Just had this come up 6 years ago, when Nandos was cheeky, pay £10 for the chicken on its own now with no sides,” X user @OJT899 wrote on 14 August.
The comment was shared alongside a six-year-old image of a Nando’s menu, with a whole chicken being priced at £12 and a portion of 10 chicken wings for £12.65 with sides.
Other items included four boneless chicken thighs with two regular sides for £10 (£7.25 without) and the beloved Chicken Wing Roulette for £9.60.
Sadly, those prices are long gone, with the latter now costing £11.95 (24.48 percent increase) and thighs with two sides priced at £14.45, a whopping 44.5 percent hike.
On the latest Nando’s menu, a whole chicken costs £15.25 (27.08 percent increase), and a portion of ten chicken wings is £11.95 without sides, and £17.45—that’s 37.94 percent more expensive than it was in 2020.

People have been debating the 2020 Nando’s menu, with one typing: “Pls delete this i just saw the price of wings and cried.”
A second said: “@Nandos y’all should be ASHAMED of yourselves. Cheeky nandos is no longer cheeky.”
“In 2018 my meal with drink used to cost £10 now it’s £21,” remarked someone else.
A fourth commented: “Not surprised really with the cost of minimum wage doubling in this period before you consider the extortionate food and energy rises.”
Another added: “Wouldn’t mind paying more if I got more but these days your getting way less and paying more.”
Nando’s touched on its price increases earlier this year after it was revealed that its PERinaise dip had risen 108 percent in price from 60p in 2021 to £1.25, and bottomless drinks now cost 45 percent more than they did five years ago.
"Like all hospitality businesses, we’re facing significant increases in the cost of running our restaurants – particularly our wage bill and supply chain costs," a Nando's representative told the Sun in April.
"We work hard to absorb as much of these costs as possible to protect the great value our customers expect.”
FOODbible has contacted Nando’s for further comment.
