When a flavour or product is discontinued it's never a fun moment, and it's one that we mourn.

But we have some very happy news for you, as the good people behind Coca-Cola are bringing back a nostalgic drinks flavour that we've been missing for seven years since it disappeared in 2018.

Inspired by the iconic cans of the 80s, the fan favourite flavour is coming back with retro packaging but the great taste we all know and love.

Diet Cherry Coke is officially back, and the cult classic will be back on UK shelves exclusively at Tesco later this month from 8 October and it's already got fans excited.

Available in 24 packs of the 330ml cans, as well as 500ml and 2l bottles, it's expected to fly out after seven years away.

Tara Byrnes, Senior Brand Manager for Diet Coke Great Britain said: “We have been listening and are so excited to announce the return of Diet Cherry Coke®. The comeback of this retro icon is the tasty throwback that fans have been hoping for.

"Some love a classic, and others a twist; for some this little cherry-flavoured ritual will give an opportunity to make Diet Coke breaks reflect ‘your taste’ even more. Returning exclusively for a limited time, the flavour you love, cherry, is back – but get it while you can!”

The return is also welcome after it first landed in the US as a limited edition and had a great reception, but the UK missed out.

TikTok and social media went wild for the return, with people claiming it as 'life changing'. One person wrote: "This feels so monumental. It’s so good. It’s everything. I can’t stop drinking this and I’m actually so sad that this is limited-edition."

Others have begged Diet Coke to 'please never get rid of this one', saying they had 'outdone' themselves with the beverage.

Another person wrote: "The cherry flavour is perfect, it’s not too much but it’s not too little. The Diet Coke is burning my mouth the way I like it. Solid 10/10, they really did the big one with this one. I’ll never crave normal Diet Coke again."

Others have hailed it as 'elite', and a 'solid 10/10'.

If this wasn't exciting enough news, Asda are also bringing back the rare pink cans of Diet Coke for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The cans are available in a bundle of nine pink items being sold on TikTok shop by Asda, which also includes Yorkshire Tea, pink Digestives, Marmite and Pot Noodle.

The bundle costs £7.17 and all proceeds go straight to Asda’s Tickled Pink charity partners, Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel.
