Prince Harry has ‘big moment’ as Archie and Lilibet ‘embrace’ incredibly British snack
Prince Harry has revealed that Archie and Lilibet have finally developed a taste for one of Britain’s most divisive foods, and it’s something of a milestone for him as a dad.
The Duke of Sussex spoke about the Royal children’s changing tastes while attending the WellChild Awards in September.
Asked about the most British things he and his family had enjoyed since returning to the UK, Harry mentioned the countryside walks he and Meghan Markle had been taking before revealing a detail that clearly pleased him.
“Now the kids are eating Marmite on crumpets, which is a big moment for me,” he told HELLO! magazine.

It doesn’t get much more British than that, does it!
Marmite has long divided opinion, acknowledging the fact it’s something of an acquired taste by using ‘love it or hate it’ as a tag line.
Harry suggested that his children had not always been persuaded by his affection for it, though.
“They used to diss me for having Marmite in the house,” he said, adding that their move back to Britain had apparently helped smooth things over.
“Now we are in the UK that’s kind of like water under the bridge, so it’s good.”
Unfortunately for Harry, there was less success when he made a valiant attempt to introduce the children to another much-loved British combination.
Beans on toast failed to make much of an impression when the family was still living in the US.
“I already tried beans on toast in California,” Harry explained. “That was years ago. It didn’t go down very well at all.”
Maybe he just needs to spread some Marmite on the toast before adding the beans?
The Marmite revelation comes as the Sussex family decided to return to British soil, after spending the last few years in Montecito.
Food is not the only way the children appear to have retained a connection with their father’s British background.
Meghan Markle previously spoke about their accents and the occasional British pronunciation that emerges when they speak.
During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2025, Meghan was asked what she sees in Archie and Lilibet that reminds her of Harry. She pointed to the way they pronounce certain words.
“Oh, some of the words that they still say with a British accent,” she said. “So they’ll say, ‘Zebra’.”
Meghan explained that although the children have ‘very American accents’, there are moments when their father’s influence wins.
“They have these little moments where it comes out,” she said. “They have very American accents, but they say words that are just like him, and I think it’s adorable.”
Now, Marmite on crumpets appears to have joined those small reminders of their British heritage.
Getting children to embrace a food they once rejected is a no mean feat and something Harry is clearly very proud of, especially when Marmite is one of Britain’s divisive culinary icons.
For now, at least, Marmite appears to have won over the Sussex household.
Beans on toast still has some work to do though.
