Jennifer Aniston, star of Friends, The Morning Show, Horrible Bosses and many more, has been a style icon for three decades and counting. Her hair in Friends gave rise to ‘the Rachel’, one of the 90s and 00s most sought-after cuts, and since the show ended she’s set a fierce example of battling the years with nutrition and fitness.

She remains in tremendously good shape at 56, and she walks the walk with a fitness-focused lifestyle that began at an early age.

"I was never allowed to have a sugary piece of anything, and I was also served spelt bread," she told People whilst discussing growing up in the 70s.

"I grew up in one of those holistic households... so I've sort of lived by that," she said, with the interview coming in step with her new SmartWater collaboration.

She detailed how her mother, Nancy Dow, who passed away in 2016 at 79, had a major influence on how she approaches her health.

"My mom sort of drilled into me the importance of drinking water since I was a kid, but I guess really more in my late teens," said Aniston.

"She was also the one who taught me to put on face cream and eye cream," she added.

Her latest campaign with SmartWater is timely for us in the UK as we battle through a heat wave and the importance of good hydration becomes more stark.

Dehydration in its early stages can give you headaches, a sense of lethargy and unease, a dry mouth, and foggy thinking, and as it progresses it can lead to dizziness, a strong sense of fatigue, cramps, disorientation, irritability, and an elevated heart rate.

As a general rule it’s recommend that we drink two litres of water per day, but in hot conditions or during exercise you’ll likely need more than that to keep the yellow wee at bay.

"I've become so hyper aware of people who don't drink water now because I've always been such a water drinker," continued Aniston.

"I have girlfriends that just can't drink water, they just don't like the taste of it. It's like, 'It's water. It's just water,' and I constantly say, 'You have to hydrate. You must hydrate.’”

Speaking of SmartWater, with whom she’s worked since 2007, she told People: "We just can't quit each other. I've loved it since then, and I love it now.

"It's delicious, it's crisp, it tastes perfect, and I love the bottle, I love the brand, I love the people.”
