Gordon Ramsay is one of the world’s most famous and successful chefs. With countless seasons of TV under his belt and 17 Michelin stars earned over his career, there are few to have made a success of cooking in the way he has.
Along with his culinary skills, he’s known for exacting standards that pair deliciously with his penchant for swearing till he’s blue in the face.
You might think you’ve got Ramsay sussed after all his years on our screens, but he’s still able to surprise. His choice for his last-ever meal is testament to that.

Having been trained by Marco Pierre White, who himself was trained by Raymond Blanc, Ramsay is part of a lineage of extremely high-grade chefs. As such, you might think his last-ever meal would be some distillation of all the fine cuisines he’s ever encountered – and made – but his tastes are a little simpler than you’d expect.
On an episode of Last Meals by Mythical Kitchen on YouTube, Ramsay said his last meal would consist of: a Full English, butter chicken, Buffalo chicken wings, a beef wellington made to his own recipe, a sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream, a deep-fried Mars Bar – what better time to have one of those? – and a Monkey 47 gin and tonic.
He wouldn’t stop there, however. On the side comes the pièce de résistance: an In-N-Out burger.
If you’re not familiar, In-N-Out is a Californian burger chain known for it’s outrageously good burgers. Ramsay said his go-to is their Double-Double burger, made ‘animal-style’.
"These guys are incredible,” he said of the chain that’s mostly exclusive to the West Coast.
“It’s the perfect drive-thru; you don’t get any hassle. I bring the window down, I give them a little $100 bill as a big ‘thank you', and I pick up my Double-Double. Heaven.”
His choice consists of two beef patties, two slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, pickles, In-N-Out’s own burger sauce, and the all-important toasted bun.
“Oh, God. Bloody hell, it’s amazing,” Ramsay says as he takes a bite.
Apparently, ‘animal-style’ refers to putting a layer of mustard on one half of the bun before it hits the grill. The mustard then caramelises whilst cooking.
Ramsay’s choice didn’t go unnoticed on X, with users stunned to see him include In-N-Out in the lineup.
"The fact that an in n out burger is part of Gordon Ramsay’s last meal is crazy to me,” said one user.

"Gordon Ramsay having an In-N-Out burger in his last meal line up is crazy," said another. Is there an echo in here?
Ramsay said In-N-Out inspired him for one of his own burgers, although he uses Devonshire butter rather than mustard for his own take on ‘animal-style’.
