Better known for her vocal skills than her cookery, 2010s hitmaker Demi Lovato has rustled up a cookbook imbued with her personal struggles with food.
The book, One Plate at a Time, releases in March 2026.
It isn’t the 32-year-old’s first book, either. She published Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year back in 2013, with the follow-up Staying Strong: A Journal dropping in 2014.
Those books came at the height of her music fame and detailed her personal struggles and the affirmations-focused approach she takes to mindfulness and psychological resilience. Lovato has previously struggled with bulimia nervosa, as well as drug addictions that resulted in an overdose that precipitated multiple strokes, a heart attack, and brain damage that have caused persistent image problems.
Having survived all that hardship, Lovato discovered not long before 30th birthday, and it’s proven pivotal in her ongoing recovery.
"Demi Lovato's cooking journey started when she was almost thirty,” said an official statement. “After years of navigating a challenging relationship with food, she found that learning to cook – discovering how to truly nourish herself in mind, body, and spirit – was a revelation."
The book will feature a total of 80 recipes, with particular attention paid to her person ‘top 5’ across a range of categories.
Posting to Instagram via her @ddlovato account, Lovato said: “I am so excited to announce my first cookbook: One Plate At A Time 🩷
“Stepping into the kitchen and learning how to cook has been such an important part of my recovery and healing my relationship with food.

“This book is filled with simple, comforting recipes that have allowed me to reconnect with myself and find both freedom and joy in my kitchen – feelings I never thought I could experience. It has allowed me to see cooking as an act of love and kindness to myself and those in my life, and I hope this book can bring that same feeling into your home too.”

She appended the Instagram post with an allusion to some fresh work in the recording studio: “And don’t worry, I’ve been cooking outside of the kitchen too…”
Lovato’s discography includes eight studio albums, the last of which was released in 2022. It’s been a glittering career, with two Grammy nominations, an MTV Video Music Award, five People’s Choice Awards, two Latin American Music Awards, and more besides.
According to Billboard, her music has registered 7.7 billion on-demand streams in the US alone.
