David Beckham, soon to be a knight of the realm if reports are accurate, has led something of a charmed life. That free kick against Sweden, his crucial ambassadorship for the 2012 Olympics, the treble win with Manchester United, winnings domestic leagues in England, Spain, France, and the US, and being married to one of the world’s biggest pop stars; not a bad CV.
You may have wondered how this evergreen icon fuelled himself for all those achievements, let alone to still look as devastatingly handsome in his 50s as he did in his 20s, if not more so.

Much has been made of wife Victoria’s penchant for daily poached fish and steamed vegetables, but what of his own unusual dietary habits?
If we started you off with gammon, egg and chips, you might think our Becks could go for something more nutritious. But, as with his playing career, he’s found half a yard on you already.
Along with the grease, salt, and decent portion of protein he gets from the gammon, egg and chips, he gets a bucket load of nutrients from a side of beans.
And a side of pineapple.
And a side of mushy peas.
And a side of coleslaw.

Now, that’s an awful lot of different textures, flavours and sauces all on one plate, but it’s a Becks classic that he swears by.
A proud mummy’s boy, Becks has admitted it’s a childhood favourite. Posting a picture of the dish to Instagram, he captioned it, “Not at good as yours mum, but not bad.”
This wasn’t the first instance of him sharing the meal, however, with his first airing of the Beckhams’ signature dish coming with the caption: “Last night’s feast one of my favourites growing up. Thanks mum.”
Long with the unbottleable delicacy that is a mother’s love, Sandra Beckham’s trick is to serve up mushy peas rather than garden peas or petit pois. To be fair, we can see how that texture would go better with the beans, coleslaw, and pineapple.
Posting about it in 2017 for his 42nd birthday, David labelled it his ‘Dinner of choice’ there.

Before you condemn the combo, ask yourself: have I ever scored at a World Cup? Did I make a cameo appearance in Goal 2: Living the Dream? Do I own an MLS club that features Lionel Messi? Did I set the hairstyle trends in every primary school from 1998 to 2006?
No? Best order a gammon, egg, chips, mushy peas, beans, pineapple and coleslaw to see if it makes the difference.
