A DoorDash executive has tragically passed away in an accident on Lake Tahoe on the border of California and Nevada.
Josh Pickles, 37, was one of eight victims of the incident that saw their boat capsize during a storm on June 21st 2025.
There were 10 people on board the 27-foot boat, celebrating Pickles’ mother’s birthday. His mother, Paula Bozinovich, 71, was one of the other seven victims.

The thunderstorm was a shock to meteorologists who had predicted rain, or so Matthew Chyba of the National Weather Service told AP. Winds reached 35mph and waves on Lake Tahoe reportedly grew to eight feet in height.
Per The Tribune, El Dorado County Sheriff's Office Coroner's Division confirmed that the other six victims were: Terry Pickles, 73; Peter Bayes, 72; Timothy O'Leary, 71; Theresa Giullari, 66; James Guck, 69; and Stephen Lindsay, 63.
Responding to the tragedy, DoorDash told Fox News: “We are heartbroken by the tragic accident that took the life of our beloved colleague.
"Josh loved his team and was an inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. During his nearly seven years at DoorDash, he brought a contagious spirit that lifted those around him.
“The loss of Josh is immeasurable. We miss him deeply and will carry his memory with us always."
Jordan Sugar-Carlsgaard, Pickles’ wife, was not on board the vessel and survives her husband with their 7-month-old daughter.
Sugar-Carlsgaard told People: "No words can express the pain and anguish we feel knowing their lives were lost during what was meant to be a joyful time on the lake.
"Our hearts go out to those who tragically lost their lives and the two survivors of this unexpected and deadly storm on Lake Tahoe."
Ravi Inukonda, also speaking to People, worked with Pickles as CFO at DoorDash and said: "We are heartbroken by the tragic accident that took the life of our beloved colleague, Josh Pickles.

“Josh loved his team and was an inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him."
The Sheriff’s Office reported on June 22 at just before 3pm local time that there had been ‘multiple reports of a capsized boat in South Lake Tahoe, near D.L. Bliss State Park. Callers indicated that approximately 10 individuals were in the water near the vessel, with reported wave heights reaching 8 feet’.
Of those on board, two survivors were rescued from the water.
