Police have taken up a side job of being a DoorDash driver after arresting a man who couldn’t fulfil his customer’s order due to being under the influence.
There’s nothing like ordering food and having the police come to your door instead to deliver your late-night munchies.
Just goes to show you can’t always predict when the law will call, as these people sure found out.
On this occasion, Cape Coral, Florida officers stopped and arrested Luis Alania Estrella on charges of a DUI and driving with a suspended license on 20 November.

The Cape Coral Police Department explained in a press release that ‘officers were dispatched to the area of Skyline Blvd and Cape Coral Pkwy following reports of a man appearing unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle stopped at a traffic light'.

But noticing the driver had yet to complete his order, the attending officers decided to do the noble thing and deliver the DoorDash order.
"In an effort to assist the community member awaiting their meal, one of the responding officers took the initiative to deliver the food order to its final destination. The actions of the officer helped ensure the resident received the meal safely and without unnecessary delay," the press release claimed.

Estrella was then taken to Lee County Jail, where it was allegedly found that the 25-year-old had a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of 0.15 per cent, as per ABC News.
This is nearly double the 0.8 per cent alcohol limit people can drive with.
As for what happened to the driver, DoorDash told People in a statement: "DoorDash has zero tolerance for driving under the influence – every single Dasher is required to follow the law, period. This individual’s access to the DoorDash platform has been permanently removed.
"We’re grateful to local law enforcement for keeping the community safe and going above and beyond to deliver this customer’s dinner.”
Footage released by the department show the officers attempting to make sense of the scene in front of them, with Estrella seemingly only able to communicate in Spanish.

“DoorDash?” the officer said in the clip. “The address that he had on is DoorDash. Is that where he was going?”
“That's where the order is,” another officer answered, leading to the arresting officer to shrug and say: “I'll deliver it.”
But this isn’t the first time a case like this has happened as in January 2022, Ring footage went viral on TikTok after it showed Sioux Falls police officer Sam Buhr bringing an order of Arby's to Anastasia Elsinger after her driver was arrested.
“I know I'm not who you were expecting, but your driver got arrested for some things he didn't take care of,” the footage showed him saying.
