Christmas has arrived early at Greggs, with the bakery chain launching the first part of its 2026 festive menu, and there is a new twist on the mince pie to try.
The most exciting arrival is the Sweet Mince Pie Roll, which swaps the traditional shortcrust pastry case for layers of golden puff pastry.
The new Christmas treat is filled with sweet mincemeat made with vine fruits, Bramley apples and candied orange and lemon peel, then finished with a dusting of icing sugar.
As for what makes it stand out from a usual mince pie, it all comes down to the shape.

Gone is the familiar thick pastry case, and Greggs has switched it out for a flaky, layered pastry that feels closer to one of Greggs’ familiar rolls and bakes.

The filling still keeps the recognisable combination of dried fruit and citrus, so it is not a complete departure from the classic.
The new bake is available in Greggs shops from Thursday, October 1, from £1, although prices can vary by location.
Greggs described the launch as giving “one of Britain’s most iconic Christmas treats the Greggs treatment”.
The company has also kept the classic Sweet Mince Pie on the menu, so traditionalists do not have to choose between the familiar version and the new roll.
But the return likely to attract the most attention among savoury snack fans is Pigs in Blankets.
After four years away, the festive favourite is back, with six pork sausages wrapped in smoked streaky bacon and served in a small pot.
They cost from £2.50, and fans are very happy about the return.
The rest of the first festive drop features familiar sweet treats.
Christmas Cake Slices return from £1.50, with fruit and ground almonds topped with apricot jam, almond marzipan and white icing.
Christmas Mini Caramel Shortbreads are also back, costing from £2.50 for six and combining crumbly shortbread with caramel and white chocolate.

One customer joked that they are ‘both intrigued and appalled’ by the new mince pie roll.
However one happy customer wrote: “They’re pretty good, and at £1 it’s good value, and well filled.”
Another fan added they were ‘all over those pigs in blankets!!’ while this commenter raved: “Tried the pigs in blankets and the sweet mince pie roll today and they were delicious!”
Someone else wanted them to be available all year round. Summer mince pie anyone?
If you’re feeling disappointed that a favourite of yours hasn’t returned, fear not, Greggs says more festive products will be announced in the coming weeks, meaning there could be more seasonal surprises on the way.
One fan asked: “Where is the Festive Bake?” while another concerned shopper pleaded: “You’d better bring the Festive Bake and the mint hot chocolate back!”
For those wanting to try the new items without queuing in store, the festive range is also available through Click + Collect on the Greggs app, with delivery offered through Just Eat and Uber Eats.
App users can also earn rewards, with one free item available after nine purchases across different categories.
Whether shoppers are ready for mince pies in October is another matter, but you can never have too much of a good thing in our opinion.
