A new North West hospitality venue has claimed a VIP guest helped break the record for the largest table spend at any Manchester nightclub in history.

Continental Club in Manchester, situated on South King Street near Deansgate, describes itself as an ‘exclusive’ bar offering ‘luxury, privacy, and elite entertainment’.

Customers can ‘experience world-class events, premium liquors, and VIP services’ at the venue, which was previously home to the city’s legendary South Nightclub.

Earlier this week, the establishment posted an image on Instagram of an itemised receipt from a recent celebrity party.

“Record broken,” Continental typed in all capitals. “Some come to sip…others come to set records. The biggest table spend to EVER take place in a club in Manchester.”

Backing up the claim, the image of the bill saw a stunning 48 cans of Redbull being sold to one group, alongside bottles of Hennessy XO, Clase Azul Añejo Tequila - priced at a jaw-dropping £1,500 a pop - and multiple £2,000 magnums of Dom Perignon Rosé.

Other items included a 1.75l bottle of Grey Goose vodka, blended scotch whisky, and two ‘all-night’ Shisha pipe access passes.

One of the most expensive alcoholic spirits listed on the receipt was £9,500 (Clase Azul Ultra Extra Añejo), while the cheapest was the energy drink cans, priced at £4.50 per can.

According to the Continental Club image, the drinks’ grand total was £80,536 - but that wasn’t the final bill.

Like many businesses, the Greater Manchester establishment added a ten percent service charge to the bill.

In this instance, the service charge was £8,053.60, bringing the total bill to an eye-watering £88,589.60.

The Continental Club receipt has gone viral across social media, with hundreds of Instagram users having their say.

“That service charge would be coming straight off,” commented one user.

A second replied: “£4.50 for a red bull is a bit steep dont ya think?”

“Hope HMRC aren’t watching your posts guys,” joked someone else.

Another typed: “Manchester Money”.

The city centre club told the BBC that the 12-person cheque was settled in full by a ‘celebrity client’ who was apparently a ‘former sportsman’.

He claimed the anonymous drinker was not native to Manchester and was probably not ‘foreign to spending that kind of money’.

“We don't really get [massive spends] as much as London and Dubai, so we welcome it with open arms, definitely,” the club owner confessed.

"We really wanted to raise the awareness that Manchester is becoming that city now where we are on the same level as London and that we can compete with the big boys.”
