Channel 4 has decided to axe Scott Mills' forthcoming episode of The Great Celebrity Bake Off, following his sudden departure from his popular BBC radio show.
The former Radio 2 presenter was sacked last month after allegations about his ‘personal conduct’, with the corporation later saying it had obtained ‘new information’ relating to him in recent weeks. Since then, the story has continued to widen, taking in a historic police investigation and a statement from Mills through his lawyers.
Mills mentioned earlier this month that the Metropolitan Police statement related to him and that he had ‘fully cooperated’ with the investigation. The Met has said the case began in 2016, related to allegations of serious sexual offences against a teenage boy, and was closed in 2019 after the Crown Prosecution Service decided the evidential threshold had not been met to bring charges.

Now that fallout has reached The Great Celebrity Bake Off - the celebrity-packed version of the Great British Bake Off - with Channel 4 confirming that Mills’ episode of the Stand Up to Cancer special will no longer air.
A spokesperson for the broadcaster told The Independent on Wednesday (8 April): “Having carefully considered the circumstances, we’ve taken the decision not to air the final episode of the 2026 series of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer, featuring Scott Mills.
“Acknowledging the seriousness of the accusations that have been made against Scott, we don’t believe it would be appropriate to air the episode at this time. An alternative episode of Celebrity GBBO will go out in its place.”

That means the 2026 run will now end differently than planned, with Mills’ appearance pulled entirely rather than quietly left in the schedule.
It comes after Mills broke his silence on 1 April, saying: “The recent announcement that I am no longer contracted to the BBC has led to the publication of rumour and speculation.
“In response to this, the Metropolitan Police has made a statement, which I confirm relates to me.”
He added: “An allegation was made against me in 2016 of a historic sexual offence, which was the subject of a police investigation in which I fully cooperated and responded to in 2018.”
The BBC has also set out its own position since the sacking, saying: “What we can confirm is that in recent weeks, we obtained new information relating to Scott and we spoke directly with him. As a result, the BBC acted decisively in line with our culture and values and terminated his contracts on Friday, 27 March.”
