Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has made his true feelings known on US President Donald Trump’s Executive Order (EO) regarding the herbicides.
In mid-February, 79-year-old Trump reasoned that ‘an adequate supply’ of elemental phosphorus and glyphosate-based herbicides was ‘crucial to the national security and defence.
His EO added that the substances are a ‘cornerstone of this Nation’s agricultural productivity and rural economy, allowing United States farmers and ranchers to maintain high yields and low production costs while ensuring that healthy, affordable food options remain within reach for all American families’.
RFK Jr., who has served as the Health and Human Services Secretary since January 2025, has previously been vocal in his dislike for glyphosate, having previously won a landmark case against chemical giant Monsanto by arguing its Roundup weedkiller contributed to his client’s cancer.

Despite the 72-year-old’s campaign efforts, he made a U-turn, claiming that without herbicides and pesticides, the US food industry could collapse.
The controversial statement was made following Trump’s EO, which RFK Jr. alleged he ‘supported’.
“I support President Trump’s Executive Order to bring agricultural chemical production back to the United States and end our near-total reliance on adversarial nations,” he typed via X.
In a new interview, the father-of-six has admitted he’s not ‘particularly happy’ with the president’s decision to bolster glyphosate.
“It’s not a good thing to have in your food so … it’s not something that I was particularly happy with. Let me put it that way, mildly,” he told colour commentator Joe Rogan on his popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.

“But I also understand the president’s point of view,” he added. “If you ban glyphosate overnight, or if you got rid of it … it would destroy the American food system.”
RFK Jr.’s apparent support of glyphosate, a key ingredient in the Roundup weedkiller, has been slammed online by supporters of his Make America Healthy Again regime.
Moms Across America founder Zen Honeycutt, a prominent MAHA activist took to X and wrote: “We love you Bobby but this administration needs to keep their word.”
Meanwhile Alex Clark, a health and wellness influencer, said: “We can ABSOLUTELY secure our agricultural supply chains without handing blanket immunity to the very corporations that helped create this mess in the first place.”
Politico previously reported that the environmental politician was ‘not aware the executive order was coming’ and that the ‘political ramifications had not been fully considered’.
“They made Bobby walk the plank on it,” an unnamed person close to the White House told the outlet.
RFK Jr.’s latest statement comes just days after he was called out online for sharing an AI-generated video.
The clip showed fake dolls of himself, as well as Trump and boxer Mike Tyson, 59, promoting MAHA.
At one point, a faux Kennedy action figure ‘flips’ over a tetrahedron while referring to the new food pyramid, which was unveiled as part of the revamped US Dietary restrictions.
“Flip the pyramid to put the real food we need on top,” the advert said.
Responding to the backlash, a spokesperson for the Health and Human Services Secretary told FOODbible: “The video is a creative and effective way to reach new audiences with an important public health message, and we’re encouraged by the strong engagement and enthusiasm it has generated online.”
