If you’re looking for a unique fast-food experience, then the world's only ski-thru McDonald’s should satisfy your hunger for adventure.
The family-friendly Lindvallen resort, part of the Sälen ski region, is home to snow-covered peaks, popular cross-country trails, and pistes extending to almost 900m altitude.
Various gourmet restaurants, après-ski institutions, and aesthetic Italian’s have set up shop in the area, situated around 200 miles northwest of Stockholm.
Another favourite situated on the remote Swedish slopes is McSki, the unique ski-up McDonald’s.

It’s believed that the branch opened in the late 1990s and, just like other Gyllene Måsen eateries in the country, serves a full menu.
That means fans can snag Big Macs, ice-cold McFlurrys, and hot drinks inside the rustic alpine lodge.
There are also Swedish McDonald’s darlings, such as a sour cream and crispy onion burger, McCrispy Green Chilli, Pepper Chicken Strips, the bold Fish McFeast, Chicken Sirarcha Salad Bowl, and the McVegan.

However, the main gimmick is that, as well as heading into the snow-topped eatery for a bite to eat, they can also ski up to the window to pick up their coffee and pastries to go. Genius, right?
And apparently, business is absolutely booming for the 140-cover restaurant.
Following the 2023/24 ski season, Linda Morell, head of public relations at SkiStar, who own the Lindvallen resort, including the McDonald’s building, said the business had received an ‘80 percent increase in English vistors’.
“We’ve never had so many English guests. It’s an all-time high,” she told Metro.
Potential visitors to the skier’s paradise have been praising it for years across social media, with one taking to TikTok to write: “This is was literally my childhood.”
“THIS IS POSSIBLE OMGS MY LIFE HAS CHANGED,” said a second.
“Actually would love to go to this,” someone else replied.
A fourth commented: “Can we get this done in Italy but February?”
Interestingly, the Lindvallen eatery isn’t the world’s most unusual spot to have a McDonald’s.
A statement restaurant in Rotterdam comes equipped with a spiral staircase, the 1,000 McDonald’s to open in Brazil, known as Méqui 1000, boasts a Big Mac chandelier, and a three-story spot resides in Chinatown in Manhattan.

Other jaw-dropping Maccies include the retro establishment in Downey, California, which became eligible for the US National Register of Historic Places in 1984, and one located in the former home of late Taiwanese leader Chiang Ching-kuo.
If you find yourself frequenting any McDonald’s in the United States this week, then you can be one of the first to pick up a Big Arch burger.
The item, dubbed the chain’s ‘best burger’ by some fans, has already debuted in the United Kingdom and Canada, and is set to be introduced to the US market on Tuesday (3 March).
