Beloved Heated Rivalry actor Connor Storrie has opened up about the show’s pivotal pasta scene, revealing how his ‘real life’ mannerisms were given a moment to shine.
Late last year, Rachel Reid’s Game Changers novel series came to life with the Canadian sports romance TV series, Heated Rivalry. And the rest, as they say, really is history.
The programme, created, written, and directed by Jacob Tierney, follows the surprise romantic link that Shane Hollander, a Japanese-Canadian hockey player, and his rival, Russian Ilya Grigoryevich Rozanov, share.
The pair are captains of the Montreal Metros and Boston Raiders, respectively, and are embroiled in an on-ice rivalry that later develops into a full-blown love affair.

During the Heated Rivalry’s finale, 25-year-old Storrie, who plays Rozanov, digs into a plate of pasta whilst Hollander (played by Hudson Williams, 24) discusses their relationship with his parents.

Clips of the spaghetti scarfing scene have been going viral across social media, with one Heated Rivalry fan commenting on Instagram: “My baby hadn't had a mom-made home cooked meal in forever.”
“How much sketti did Connor house shooting this I wonder,” joked someone else.

Another remarked: “OMG that a little dance he does after the first bite. It was hard to miss in the episode last night but zoomed in like this, it’s so cute.”
A fourth replied: “Ilya’s little happy shimmy after he gets that mama-made food in his mouth.”
In an interview with TODAY, the Joker: Folie à Deux actor revealed that he wasn’t in character for the particularly tense scene, and that he was just genuinely enjoying the spaghetti dish.

“I’m very LA; I don’t do a lot carbs or gluten,” the Texas native claimed.
“It’s not really my thing. So I think I was just really relishing in the excuse to eat pasta for the first time for a long time.”
He added that a producer showed him a take of the scene. It was then that he noticed another subtle mannerism had been given some airtime.
“I guess I do a little dance while I’m eating, like I’m a little kid,” Storrie laughed.

“I don’t know that I do that, but now, even in my real life, I kind of find it sometimes.”

Food plays a starring role on the HBO favourite, with a tuna melt and ginger beer acting as the catalyst for Rozanov and Hollander’s courtship in episode four.
There’s a thin blueberry-based smoothie called ‘Blue Moon Over Brooklyn’ mentioned, as well as grilled burgers being served up by Hollander at the cottage, and pasta salad stored in Christopher ‘Kip’ Grady (Robbie G.K’s) fridge.
