A pizza chef has reportedly confessed to killing a 60-year-old man in the French village of Brasc.

According to Le Parisien, the accused, Philippe Schneider, allegedly murdered, dismembered, and cooked George Meichler before then ‘scattering his remains on his land’.

The Telegraph reported that Schneider allegedly cooked Meichler’s limbs in a vegetable pot in an attempt to ‘mask the odour’.

Schneider has been accused alongside his partner and an alleged gravedigger, the latter two of whom have reportedly denied their involvement in the killing.

The 69-year-old Schneider, a retired butcher, has reportedly confessed to the killing, according to the Telegraph. Meichler, 60, was a recluse in Brasc, France, and according to Le Figaro it’s alleged that Schneider had initially gone to the victim’s home in the woods to steal money and cannabis from him.

Schneider appeared at Rodez Assize Court on May 19th 2025 where he is being tried for the killing, dismemberment and cooking of Meichler’s body parts. Co-accused, Nathalie Caboubassy, 45, moved to the region with Schneider in 2019 where he opened a pizzeria called Don Filiippo, per the Telegraph.

Schneider has reportedly confessed to the killing while Caboubassy maintains that she is innocent. The third suspect, gravedigger Loup Benrakia, also claims innocence in the matter.

Le Figaro said that Schneider’s robbery attempt allegedly ended with the victim ‘tied up, gagged and beaten’, with Schneider claiming Meichler had suffocated.

From there, he said he took Meichler’s body to his house. After three days’ wait to ‘respect the transmigration of the soul’ – according to the Telegraph – he then allegedly dismembered the body and burned his organs.

From there, the Telegraph reported that Schneider ‘cooked the other limbs in large pots of vegetables to mask the odour’. After burning the head, hands and feet in a wood oven, he reportedly scattered Meichler’s ashes across the property.

"I have no words to express my guilt and my many regrets, but I understand the anger and disgust I can evoke,” said Schneider, per Le Parisien.

“I offer my sincere apologies to the family. This is an act of madness that should never have happened. I plead guilty to all the charges against me.”

Lawyer Luc Abratkiewicz said, according to the Telegraph: “Philippe Schneider acknowledges his full responsibility and all the facts he is accused of.

“Philippe Schneider’s version is that at the time he lived a life of alcohol, drugs, and then this completely crazy idea of going to burgle his neighbour. He gags him. It goes badly, he dies...

“He made a serious mistake. Afterward, he continued to sink into absurdity and horror, because the fact of having cut up this corpse is going to cost them dearly.”

According to Le Parisien, Yannick Mamodabasse, representing Meichler's family, said: "These are terrible events, and it's still very painful for the family. That's all I'll say before the hearing in this extraordinary case.”

The Telegraph added that Schneider, charged with kidnapping leading to death, concealment of a corpse, and endangering the integrity of the corpse, is expected to stand trial until May 22nd. Caboubassy and Benrakia have been charged with complicity in the crime.
