McDonald’s major menu shake-up for 2025 has got people talking

As we rang in the New Year, change was afoot on the McDonald's menu. Here's a breakdown of the arrivals and departures for early 2025.

Fresh additions to the McDonald’s menu are always a great excuse to get under some yellow arches, and in 2025 we’ve been spoiled with a big overhaul that’s given us some of the broadest-ever options.

While we said goodbye, for now, to the Big Tasty, Terry’s Chocolate Orange McFlurry and Cheese Melt Dippers in January, some delicious alternatives promptly filled the void.

The refreshed menu has a blend of old favourites and a brand new addition to chomp through.

Here’s a breakdown of those fresh and returning faces:

The Chicken Katsu Wrap

Following the Katsu Curry Chicken McNuggets of 2021, Maccies fans have been praying for a return of this tangy treat.

Ronald’s house has finally delivered, this time with a more complete katsu experience.

Enter the Chicken Katsu Wrap, complete with a choice of either grilled or crispy chicken. Either way, you’ll get a delicious coating of katsu curry sauce over that bird, along with cucumber, crispy onions, cucumber, and fresh lettuce.

It’s all wrapped in a toasted tortilla, but for katsu fans we’re sorry to say there’s no option for a bit of pickled ginger. You can’t have it all, but this wrap comes close.

The Chicken Katsu Wrap is available for £3.49 on its own, or from £5.29 as part of a meal.

The BBQ Ranch Stack

Inspiration came from the other side of the Pacific for this one: the new BBQ Ranch Stack.

Two beef patties, a slice of Emmental cheese, bacon, lettuce, crispy onions, ranch and sweet BBQ sauce between a glazed sesame seed bun?

If that doesn’t get your mouth watering then you must have sworn off red meat, and even then you might find your head’s turned by this indulgent little concoction.

This burger sensation is available from £5.19 on its own or from £6.99 in a meal.

Milky Way McFlurry

While it’s goodbye to the Terry’s Chocolate Orange the Galaxy Caramel options, the new Milky Way McFlurry should keep the sweet tooth satisfied.

Milk chocolate stars, malt-flavoured pieces and chocolate sauce do a hell of a job in elevating Maccies’ signature soft whip ice cream, and you can tuck into one for just £2.19.

Mozzarella Dippers

A returning classic is the much-loved box of mozzarella dippers.

Complete with a salsa dip, these dippers come as either a triplet or a nine-dipper sharebox.

It’s a short-lived return, however, as they left the menu again on March 25th 2025.

During their brief cameo on the menu, they were back in action at £2.39 for the three-piece and £5.69 for the sharebox. Hopefully we’ll see them again soon.

McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse

Another favourite that’s made its way back home is the McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse.

This evolution of the regular McCrispy sees the deep-fried breaded chicken breast combined with a smoky BBQ sauce, cheddar, red onion, lettuce, and a sourdough-style sesame bun.

As with the Mozzarella Dippers, this one’s back for a good time rather than a long one, leaving the menu again on May 6th 2025.

Until then, you can grab one on its own for £5.79, or from £7.49 in a meal.

What left the McDonald’s menu in January 2025?

With all these fresh faces, sadly some room had to be made.

For now it’s goodbye to the Big Tasty, Cheesy McCrispy and Cheese Melt Dippers, along with the Terry’s Chocolate Orange McFlurry, Galaxy Caramel McFlurry, Terry’s Chocolate Orange Pie, Galaxy Caramel Latte and Galaxy Caramel Hot Chocolate.

As ever, it’s likely this is just a ‘see you soon’ rather than a goodbye forever, so keep your eyes peeled for fresh changes to the McDonald’s UK lineup.
